Summer Beach Run

Even the rain could not dampen the spirits of the Summmer Beach Run at the Jacksonville Beach Seawalk Pavilion. This marked the 46th running of the Beach run hosted by 1st Place sports. There was a 1 mile fun run, with mostly kids, and a 5 mile run. After the run, Food was provided by Carrabba’s and the entertainment by "Ain't too Proud to Beg".

Party at the St. Augustine Pier

Saturday afternoon marked the anniversary party for the St. Augustine Pier. Many people gathered at Pier Pavilion to celebrate with friends and family and great music.
Opening the show was Slip Disk followed by 32oz to Freedom and closed out by local favorite Papercutt.
The music was hot and although there was a little rain everyone stayed dry and rocked out inside the St. Augustine Pier Pavilion.

Atlantic Coast vs. Fletcher High School

After a rain delay, Atlantic Coast took on Fletcher in the "Kick Off Classic". Atlantic Coast could not answer as Fletcher drove by with a final score of 35-0. Dax Van Antwerp, Alfred Ansley, Nathan Scruggs, Donta Forney and Jacob Kraut made touchdowns to help the win.

Beaches Fine Arts Kids Triathlon 2010

It was early morning dawn and kids ranging from 6 to 13 participated in the Kids tri, hosted by BFAST at Fletcher High School. Juniors, ages 6-9 did a 50 yard swim, 2 mile bike and a 1/2 mile run. The Seniors, ages 10-13 swam 100 yds, 4 mile bike ride and a 1 mile run. The Transition area was full of bikes with two, three and four wheels. Even though the athletes were small, they had big hearts and smiles as they competed. Timothy Houston, (7yrs), competed with a pyhsical handicap and never looked back. Check him and others out as they raced on.

Tour De Pain 2010 Beach Run

Friday night was the kick off for "The Tour De Pain", the first of a series of three runs. First, 4 miles on the beach, then Saturday morning is 5km at 1st place sports and finally 1 mile at the landing Saturday night. These galleries consist of athletes running near the half way point on Friday night's beach run.

1st Annual Atlantic Beach Community Challenge Triathlon

The Atlantic beach Lifeguard's hosted the 1st Annual Atlantic Beach Community Challenge Triathlon. There was a seperate 5k fun run as well. The Tri consisted of a 500 meter swim, a 10 k Beach Cruiser Bike ride and a 5 k run. The bike ride was different from other triathlons as no bikes with gears were allowed.

Amazing Journey-One On the Run

Helene Neville, a 5-time cancer survivor, finished her One On the Run 2,520-mile cross-country journey at One Ocean Beach Resort in Jacksonville Beach on August 1st. Members of the 26.2 With Donna marathon training team joined Helen for the last 6 miles of this record breaking event.Her inspirational journey started May 1st in California as Helene traveled the equivalent of a marathon a day. She carried with her a bottle of water collected from the Pacific Ocean and poured it into the Atlantic and vials of sand from California and the Gulf of Mexico and poured them onto our beach. She hopes her journey will inspire others dealing with hardships.

Beaches Fine Arts Sprint Triathlon Series

The 2010 Beaches Fine Arts and Montoya Benefits Group Hosted the last of a series of three Triathlons. The race maxed out with 500 Triathletes ranging from all ages. Triathletes from all over came to participate in a 1/4 mile ocean swim, a 13 mile bike ride and a 3.1 mile run. The race finished off with prizes, good food and fun for all.
